Cordouan lighthouse

I have added one more to the list of lighthouses I would like to visit some time. It is the Cordouan lighthouse in France.

I imagine wading ashore at low tide to visit this remarkable ancient lighthouse in the middle of the Gironde estuary. Just looking at a map and seeing the names of places nearby wakes up my tastebuds: Bordeaux, Cognac, Margaux, Medoc, Rochefort…
