Here we are at the last day of the month—a month in which I have written nothing here. I don’t like to leave empty spaces in the monthly archive so, to fill the gap, let me show you this precious item from the State Library of Queensland collection.
A souvenir linen handkerchief with a printed view of the new Exhibition Building and Concert Hall, at Bowen Park in Brisbane, designed by G H M Addison and constructed in 1891. The handkerchief includes a printed plan of the Exhibitions Grounds at Bowen Park. It was printed by Warwick & Sapsford, Printers, probably for Chapman & Company, “Popular Queen Street Drapers”, whose advertisement features on the handkerchief.—from the State Library of Queensland catalogue record.
