1 of 6 In April 1996 I joined the ICOMOS International Wood Committee for a symposium on timber structure conservation in England. We visited the Globe theatre site with Peter McCurdy, master carpenter, and saw the work under way. As a rule I'm not a big fan of historical reconstructions — I prefer to look after real places — but this project was the exception.
