Micro attachment

The Lunasix meter can be used for photo-microscopy, by using the accessory Micro Attachment to fit the meter to a microscope. I'm grateful to Rob Cole for sending me a pdf copy of the instruction leaflet for the attachment.

Batteries for the Lunasix

The Lunasix and Luna-pro meters are designed to use a pair of mercury cells. Mercury cells have been taken off the market in most parts of the world because of the difficulty of safely disposing of spent cells.

The Gossen company has produced an adapter to allow the use of a pair of easily-obtained silver-oxide cells in these meters. The Gossen order code is V206A. The Gossen website explains that this adapter is expensive, because it is hand-made in small numbers. In the USA the adapter is available retailers including B&H.

As an alternative to buying the Gossen adapter, Sarah Fox has made a web page with instructions for adjusting the meter to work with silver-oxide cells. This involves opening the meter case and adjusting several variable resistors inside. You will need steady hands, a few small tools, and another accurate meter as a reference.
